2021-02-11Do not run File.write while Ractors are runningTakashi Kokubun
also make sure all local variables have the __bmdv_ prefix.
2021-02-10Add a benchmark-driver runner for Ractor (#4172)Takashi Kokubun
* Add a benchmark-driver runner for Ractor * Process.clock_gettime(Process:CLOCK_MONOTONIC) could be slow in Ruby 3.0 Ractor * Fetching Time could also be slow * Fix a comment * Assert overriding a private method Notes: Merged-By: k0kubun <>
2021-01-13Rename RubyVM::MJIT to RubyVM::JITTakashi Kokubun
because the name "MJIT" is an internal code name, it's inconsistent with --jit while they are related to each other, and I want to discourage future JIT implementation-specific (e.g. MJIT-specific) APIs by this rename. [Feature #17490]
2020-12-04Guard all accesses to RubyVM::MJIT with defined?(RubyVM::MJIT) &&Benoit Daloze
* Otherwise those tests, etc cannot run on alternative Ruby implementations.
2020-06-22Share warmup logic across MJIT benchmarksTakashi Kokubun
2019-11-09Remove unneeded exec bits from some filesDavid Rodríguez
I noticed that some files in rubygems were executable, and I could think of no reason why they should be. In general, I think ruby files should never have the executable bit set unless they include a shebang, so I run the following command over the whole repo: ```bash find . -name '*.rb' -type f -executable -exec bash -c 'grep -L "^#!" $1 || chmod -x $1' _ {} \; ``` Notes: Merged:
2019-09-26Reduce ISeq size of mjit_exec benchmarkTakashi Kokubun
to avoid unwanted memory pressure
2019-09-26Add special runner to benchmark mjit_execTakashi Kokubun
I wanted to dynamically generate benchmark cases to test various number of methods. Thus I added a dedicated runner of benchmark-driver.
2019-07-20Explain what's benchmark/lib/load.rb [ci skip]Takashi Kokubun
I'm actually not using this, but ko1 is.

2018-09-28add small utility for benchmarking.ko1
* benchmark/lib/load.rb: add small utility which requires benchmark-driver.rb. You can load this file and can use benchmark-driver. git-svn-id: svn+ssh:// b2dd03c8-39d4-4d8f-98ff-823fe69b080e
2018-07-10output/driver.rb: add output plugin to reproducek0kubun
the original behavior of benchmark/driver.rb. Probably I won't use this but this is requested by ko1. Use this with: make benchmark OPTS="-o driver" git-svn-id: svn+ssh:// b2dd03c8-39d4-4d8f-98ff-823fe69b080e
2018-07-10benchmark_driver/runner: add runners for metricsk0kubun
supported by legacy benchmark/driver.rb. benchmark/ document them update benchmark_driver to correct 0.0 output and to fix spacing format of `-o simple` and `-o markdown`. git-svn-id: svn+ssh:// b2dd03c8-39d4-4d8f-98ff-823fe69b080e
2018-07-10runner/size.rb: fix metric passed to outputk0kubun
runner/peak.rb: ditto This is needed to make commands like `make -C .ruby-svn benchmark ITEM=erb OPTS="-r size -o simple"` succeed. git-svn-id: svn+ssh:// b2dd03c8-39d4-4d8f-98ff-823fe69b080e
2018-07-10benchmark: resurrect peak / size metricsk0kubun
by adding runner plugins for them. benchmark/lib/benchmark_driver/runner/peak.rb: added peak runner plugin benchmark/lib/benchmark_driver/runner/size.rb: added size runner plugin allow using them benchmark/memory_wrapper.rb: deleted in favor of those runner plugins benchmark/ document them git-svn-id: svn+ssh:// b2dd03c8-39d4-4d8f-98ff-823fe69b080e
