`llvm-strip-7` is a sane valid strip command that LLVM 7 ships, albeit it does not understand `--version`. It is a bad idea to check that option. On platform where searchs shared libraries by `PATH` environment variable (i.e., Windows), the shared library is installed in `bindir`. On other platforms, the library directory is directed by `libdirname` indirectly.
